Puff the Sea Dragon takes a youngster for a spin at the grand opening of Schenley Plaza in June. Faculty, staff, students, and community members gathered in the new park to ride the carousel, visit food kiosks, listen to strumming guitarists, and chat on benches in the flower garden. Bordered by the Cathedral of Learning, Hillman Library, the Frick Fine Arts building, and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the site is equipped for free wireless connection to the Internet. The lot was renovated by a consortium of organizations, including Pitt, to create a town square for Oakland and a festive entrance to Schenley Park.
