CENTER OF ATTENTION

With the start of a new school year there are plenty of new faces on the Oakland campus. There's one new kid on the block who seems destined to be very popular for years to come.

CHANGING DIRECTION
	Seven years ago, Pitt's Board of Trustees commissioned an internal study of the University. Pitt didn't get a very good report card.
GRIM DIAGNOSIS, BRIGHTER PROGNOSIS
	The numbers don't lie. Alarming healthcare disparaties based on race exist. Stephen Thomas, director of Pitt's Center for Minority Health, has a program that may end the inequity.
STERN WORDS
	Highly acclaimed poets aren't called superstars, but Gerald Stern is one. His presence at Pitt still resonates from the years he taught and studied here.
