Maria Cherkasskaya--(Commons Room) Russian-born illustrator Maria Cherkasskaya regieved her master's degree in graphic arts from the State Institute of Fine Arts, Kiev. She also served as art director of animated cartoons, many of which have appeared at international film festivals in Russia and Europe.
Peter Liepke--(Cover and "On a Different Note") After a 1987 earthquake totalled his Los Angeles studio, Peter Liepke moved his photography business to New York City, where his clients include TIME, Newsweek, Simon and Shuster, and Price Waterhouse.
