Pitt alumnus Leon Pamphile knows the meaning of struggle and of striving. In his youth, in Haiti's valley of Laboule, he trudged up vast, hilly terrain to attend school. Since then, he has conquered other hilltops, and—buoyed by the green, lush valley of his homeland—he continues to help his fellow Haitians rise above to embrace literacy, health, and hope.
