University of Pittsburgh

Notes from Novak

The past fiscal year was in many ways a record-setting year for fundraising at Pitt. With more than $126.8 million raised in voluntary support from a record number of 50,881 donors, we continue to break our own records during this landmark $2 billion campaign. But, more importantly, our fundraising efforts are having a highly beneficial and enduring impact on the Pitt community—our students, faculty, and staff.

This Cornerstones section talks about a few of the incredible donors who have made a charitable gift to the University of Pittsburgh during the past year. Annual donations, like the ones made by Bill Cully, Mary Ellen Callahan, and Roger Glunt, support the daily needs of the University of Pittsburgh and its students. Gifts from alumni and friends help provide a quality education, recruit and retain award-winning faculty, fund groundbreaking research, and advance Pitt’s status as a world-class university.

On the heels of this success, we are now dealing with a world economic crisis and the challenges that come with it. In these uncertain times, support from our alumni and friends is essential to continue our momentum and reduce the financial burden on Pitt students.

Your support is a vote of confidence in Pitt’s programs and initiatives. Strong donor participation levels help improve rankings, enhance the value of your degree, and aid in raising much-needed additional dollars.

I hope that you will join me in helping to build a better future for the University of Pittsburgh by making or renewing your philanthropic commitment today. Every gift makes a difference.

Hail to Pitt!
